"A joke": François Bayrou denounces the "errors" of the Socialist Party after the filing of his motion of censure

"A joke": François Bayrou denounces the "errors" of the Socialist Party after the filing of his motion of censure
Asked about the motion of censure tabled by the Socialist Party following the failure of the pensions "conclave", François Bayrou considered it to be a "warning shot".

"It's a joke." Following the failure of the "conclave" between unions and employers on the thorny issue of pensions, the Socialist Party (PS) group has filed a motion of censure against François Bayrou and his government. While François Hollande has already announced that he will vote for it, Olivier Faure warns that there will be "no more leniency" towards the Prime Minister on the issue of the 2026 budget.

"The Socialist Party is not censoring the issue of including the legislative text; they are censoring it to show that they are in opposition. The most prominent among them are explaining that it will not be passed. That it is a warning shot," the Prime Minister commented on Sunday, June 29, on the RTL - Le Figaro - M6 - Paris Première Grand Jury.

"It's a joke," insists François Bayrou, who considers that "the Socialist Party was a very great French political party" which "is making mistakes."

As for being certain of escaping the Socialists' motion of censure on Tuesday, he qualifies: "I have no assurances of any kind. There is no majority and I know how difficult and fragile the situation and this government are. Everyone is threatening. But what are the parties that are threatening to censure doing to ensure the country moves forward? I am showing this path."

For François Bayrou, the only way to "govern France in the state it is in" would be "to create a broad movement of leaders ranging from the Socialist Party through the French political center to the Gaullists."

To deal with "a world that is dividing," Emmanuel Macron's Prime Minister believes that "three things must be done: stabilize, restore order, and move forward. Because we can't just calm things down; we have to address the issues."
